Make the five-minute drive up Signal Mountain & you’ll spot many luxury homes before even reaching the top. (You’ll also can’t miss the Spaceship House just after the 180 degree turn in the road.) There are several side streets with homes on them as you wind your way up the mountain, most offering stunning views of the TN River below.
After reaching the top, you’ll realize that the mountain is really a plateau, miles across. Luxury homes can be found throughout the mountain, but a few areas stand out.
Old towne, located near the southern end of the mountain is part of the original section of the city that was developed during the early 1900’s by C.E. Dining and Shopping
You’ll have several dining options on Signal Mountain. If you’re looking for seafood & cajun, think about trying out Siren’s Steak & Seafood. For casual Italian you should try Rafael’s on Taft Hwy. Of course there are Mexican as well as Chinese choices, but locals will tell you that you have to try the Bread Basket. Not a full restaurant, but this bakery is highly thought of by both residents of the city & those in Chattanooga that have driven up the mountain & experienced their desserts!
Parks and Recreation
Over 600 acres are dedicated to parks in the area surrounding Signal Mountain. Signal Point National Park, which offers a spectacular view of the Tennessee River Valley is perhaps the best known feature in the area. It isn’t a terribly difficult hike to get to the overlook, but keep a close eye on any kids if they are with you, some of the drop-offs are pretty substantial.
There are about 18 miles of trails in the town that connect various parks together. You’ll discover many miles of trails that are suitable for hiking, mountain biking and trail running in Prentice Cooper State Forest, just north of town.
The only golf course on the mountain is the Signal Mountain Golf & Country Club.
